We promised we’d do this ride later in the Summer, and this time the Adventure Society crew has decided to make it our July Adventure!
This is a super fun 29 25 mile ride with only a few small hills along the back roads of South Hero and Grand Isle. Lots of views of Lake Champlain mostly paved with some smooth and super tame gravel connecting roads.
Because there will be some logistics to deal with we’re asking folks to RSVP for this ride, it will help us with group organizing, safety, carpooling, and restaurant stuff. The RSVP form and a few other things don’t work in the emails we send, so head over to the website and this page to see and fill out the RSVP form.

Equipment:
Helmets are required.
A rear flashing light is strongly encouraged.
It could be a hot day, carrying two water bottles on your bike or persons on this ride is a good idea.
Other suggestions can be found on our general page about Joining Us.
You will also need to make sure you have filled out our 2026 Rider Waiver before hand. You get a cool sticker for doing so! Already filled out the waiver? You are all set.
UPDATE:
A friend of the shop has graciously offered the use of their private residence as a staging and hang our area for this ride. To that end, we have changed the starting and ending location!
From our host:
There is a big barn and a large yard where you can park pretty much anywhere. The barn has a bathroom on the top floor (with a light that works but periodically turns off). We never lock the barn, people can use the bathroom or barn to change or whatever. We are at the top of a cliff but there are about 50 stairs down to the lake where people can swim. It’s a beautiful and quiet spot to hang and group up.
Our schedule remains the same for the day.
Schedule:
Carpool at Vermont Bicycle Shop
Gather at 8:00am
Carpool leaves at 8:15am
Arrive at Peterson Farm at 9:15am
Wheels roll at 9:30am
It's a 29 mile ride, we expect the ride to last till about 12:30, then we'll go somewhere for a late lunch after the ride.
We'll leave the islands between 1:30 and 2:30 expect to get back to Barre between 2:30 and 3:30.
