Saturday is looking downright lovely, and for our group ride on Sunday, the weather actually looks like it might be pretty great as well. So one last fair warning!
Speaking of the weather, with the recent storm system that came through this week some parts of Vermont saw some damage. While it doesn’t appear that any significant damage happened along our route, one area that has always been storm damaged and is always impacted by storms is the abandoned section of Old Mill Hill Road/Old 64 that exits Northfield towards the Berlin Pond area. This section of abandoned/unmaintained and over grown road already has a significant wash out that requires passing bicycles to each other may be further impacted by the recent and on going weather. Riders should be prepared for that adversity both in time allowance, and the possibility of bushwhacking or even (though very doubtful) the need to find an alternate route. That’s adventure riding/wackadoo riding!
This ride is for intermediate to advanced riders. It is not a fast paced ride, it does contain a section of washed out and abandoned roads, riding alongside high cliff like drop offs, as well as single track mountain bike type terrain. This year we will be leaving a little earlier than we have in previous years due to a change in hours at Carrier Roasting. So here’s the details for Sunday’s ride:
Sunday, June 14
8:15-8:30 We’ll gather at the Vermont Bicycle Shop.
8:35 Head over to Espresso Bueno
9:00* wheels roll
We’ll keep an eye on the weather, unless there is a downpour that develops in the forecast, we plan to ride bikes!
