Sure, it’s going to be cold (it might be a high of 45 degrees Darren!), and just maybe there will be a little rain or snow, and it will definitely be cloudy (Partly cloudy also means partly sunny Darren!). And yes the ever impending doom of nuclear war is on the horizon, the slow churning of our society to turn on each other, a cynical few eager to slowly march us to the forever end, all at the whims of a few rich bigots. (Wow, Darren, just… wow) Who cares?!? I want to ride bikes (so does everyone else Darren!). We’re going for it!
While the forecast calls for a significant upswing in temperatures for the day, we should also be prepared for that not to happen.
The best idea is to dress for the coldest part of the day, and be prepared to take layers off while we ride.
You should definitely have some good cold weather clothing for this ride. You might want to bring a way to carry those layers as well, a backpack, or pannier, or some other larger bag. For example I will have a large bike-packing saddle bag. (Bridget says she’ll have a pannier. We’ll see.)
You should have several layers of warm, wicking, and thermal clothing as well as some kind of wind blocking and/or waterproof outer layer. Hand and foot warmer packets are also a good idea. You’ll want layers, because the temperature is expected to rise 10 degrees while we ride (from 35 to 45 degrees).
If this is the first time you’ve joined us for a ride and you are a little nervous, check out our Things to Know page for some tips and always feel free to stop down to the bicycle shop, or give us a call or email.
