Hi friends! I wanted to send a quick note about the Pizza Ride this Saturday (and share this TV show spoof I made for Kris)!
The Barre Pride poster is incorrect about where the ride meet up is.
Riders meet at 12:00 noon at the Pride Rides/Vermont Bicycle Shop tents at the Barre Pride Festival (not at the shop).
Bike decorating will happen from noon until around 1:00pm. Then folks will ride a short loop around Barre before coming back to the Pride Rides/Vermont Bicycle Shop booth for Pizza from the amazing Foxy’s here in Barre!
Folks are welcome to park at Vermont Bicycle Shop and ride bikes over to the Barre Pride festival for the ride. We do ask that you leave at least one parking space available for patrons of the shop.
If you are looking for a safe space to store your bicycle during Barre Pride, you are welcome to leave it at our shop. Please note our hours are 9-4 and we will not be available after hours to retrieve your bike.
Here are the original details with all the ride info:
For Barre Pride our June Pizza Ride becomes a Pride Rides event!!
Saturday, June 7!
We’ll gather at 12:00pm at the Pride Rides/Vermont Bicycle Shop tent at the Pride festival in downtown Barre for a bike decorating party.
Wheels roll at 1:00pm for a super casual ride twisting through the back streets of Barre along the Stevens Branch (and probably some streets you’ve never even been on). Then we’ll cross N. Main St. at W. 2nd to a short climb on Pleasant St. (we call it ‘The Beast’). Then before you know it, back to downtown for some food!
- Expect to see riders stop frequently and cheer on other riders and to keep the ride group together.
- We welcome all bicycles (especially ebikes!) and bicycle riders of all ability levels who ride safely and legally. Each ride will have a guide at the front and a friend at the end to help folks along the way.
- All minors must be accompanied at all times by a supervising adult.
- All riders are required to wear a helmet at all times on the bicycle ride.
- You should bring a bicycle lock in case you want to wander around, we won’t be able to safely watch your bike and our event booth.
- Everyone must be able to self sustain the safe working order of their bicycle (meaning, your bicycle should be in good working order and ready to ride before you join us).
- If there is expected rain more than a slight drizzle we may not ride, so be prepared for hanging out with your bike and eating pizza.
- DID YOU KNOW The Pizza Ride happens every month at Vermont Bicycle Shop? Check out the details here and if you want an email reminder you can sign up for The Pizza Ride and other rides here.
Our rides are designed to create a welcoming space for beginner cyclists, and are open to anyone who shares the goal of fostering a comfortable environment, including experienced cyclists.
We aim to shift away from the established social systems within the cycling world. There are no exclusions; participants are asked to create space for individuals—especially black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), women, queer folks, and those from marginalized or underrepresented backgrounds—to feel safe, supported, and confident, ensuring the best possible experience for all.
