Hey everyone! Thank you again for a great evening for our first Adventure Society Meet-Up! It was especially great meeting so many new people. I think we’re going to have a super exciting year.
First of all, if you are reading this in your email, the poll at the bottom may not show up. You’ll need to head to the actual website to see and vote:
https://vermontbicycleclub.com/2026/03/04/marchpoll/
We’ve got 6 options to choose from for our end of March adventure. If we choose a single day option, that ride would happen on the last Sunday of the month. If we choose one of the overnight options, that would happen on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month.
We also have a last minute addition that was sent in to consider as well! So read through the options and vote below!
I’ll also be getting our community forum up an running in a few days as well so folks can get to know each other, share stuff, and organize as well!
D&H Rail Trail in Castleton VT –
A lovely rail trail departing Castleton that leads all the way to the New York border. This ride would have a planned stop for food in Poultney around Mile 7.
It is a part of the VAST trails network, so this ride may or may not be ready by March 29.

Carl’s Island Ride x Harlow’s Parent’s Snacks –
This is one of the flatter rides in Vermont, this route is named for our friend Carl who moved away. A mixture of friendly paved roads and unpaved roads. This ride can be quite windy which can add to the cold if it is a cold day.
There is a promise of snacks at Harlow’s Parent’s house.

Burlington Bike Path –
Typically one lane of most of the bike paths are cleared for cyclists while the other lane is left for cross country skiers. It is not salted so it can become icy when it is below freezing. There are tons of lunch/early dinner options that we could plan for.
This could easily be a 20 mile ride. It could be cold.
The French Baguette –
An adventurous overnight that might be better suited to later in the year. Or, if the weather is right, it would be an epic early season ride. There are a lot of variables as to the conditions of the route due to the early season. The quality of the Motel and Restaurant is unknown. This would involve an entire weekend and staying overnight at a Motel.

The Vietnam MTB Trails –
A pretty extensive mountain bike trail system in Southern Mass. We would most likely be interested in driving down and riding and staying the night somewhere before coming back home the next day. Folks should be prepared to dedicate a weekend to this adventure.
E Bikes are welcome on these trails!

Last minute Addition:
The Columbia Greenway Rail Trail and South –
This last minute addition was presented as an alternate option to the Whackadoo bike packing adventure and the mountain bike weekend.
We would still find ourselves a little farther South while also providing some more tame terrain.
This is a weekend get away. We would drive to Westfield, MA Saturday early morning and then ride some pretty great rail trails further South for as far as we felt like, find somewhere for lunch, then turn back. We’d have dinner and stay the night in Westfield, MA. Have breakfast in the morning and drive home.

The voting is done! We’ve collected the same number of votes as folks who showed up to the meeting, and we feel pretty confident everyone is going to be pretty happy with the results. Keep an eye out for an official announcement for the details of the ride.
