Wooooweee!
Our first Adventure of the season is fast approaching, and at the same time, the weather seems like it’s working a little bit against us. Currently, the Castleton area is expected to see a mix of rain and snow this weekend and into Monday, totaling a couple of inches. While this might normally not amount to anything for roads and sidewalks, the rail trail in Castleton is a VAST trail. That means the snow there is compacted and may take longer to melt, so the ground can stay colder, and those couple of inches of snow could linger. That will be compounded by the possibility of snow on Friday, March 27.
Weather Cancellation Deadline
We’ll keep a close eye on the weather and conditions, and reach out via email and social posts if we have to cancel.
With that in mind, we’ll make that decision on or before Thursday, March 26, by 4:00PM.
Registration and Carpool Deadline
In order to help us organize transportation, as well as logistics for meeting up with everyone, we’re going to close registration for the ride and for carpooling this Sunday, March 22. We do have 3 spots left for those who wish to carpool. If you have already registered but didn’t choose carpooling as an option, go ahead and shoot me an email or give me a call at the shop. If I still have room, I will save a spot for you. If you haven’t registered for the ride, please do so ASAP.
If you haven’t registered you can do so by scrolling to the bottom of this page:
https://vermontbicycleclub.com/2026/03/10/vtbadvsoc-trip-1/
And if you want to carpool, there will be a spot on that form to let us know
What if I don’t want to register?
You don’t have to at all, the only things required for riding with us are filling out the 2026 Rider Waiver and wearing a helmet that is still in service life (less than 5 years old).
Registering is used by us so we know if we are waiting for someone, or letting us know if someone has any kind of needs unique to the trip. So, you can still ride if you don’t register, it’s just that we may not know to wait for you if you are running late. REMEMBER, you *do* have to fill out the 2026 Rider Waiver and you are required to wear a helmet to ride with us.
Adventure Society Meet-Up #2 Warning!
It’s time to get ready for our second Adventure Society meet-up already!?!? You bet it is.
For those that don’t know, the format for our Adventure Society is that we’ll gather the first Tuesday of every month to present, discuss, share, and decide on an adventure that we will do at the end of that month.
We’ll meet up April 7 at 5:30 at Vermont Bicycle Shop. We’ll discuss some ideas for an April adventure. So be warned! We’ll post again before the meet up to remind folks.
Pizza Ride!!!
Last little note is that our first Pizza Ride of the season is nearly upon us!
The first Saturday of every month between April and October.
We host a super casual 30-40 minute party on pedals around the streets of Barre. Then we park our bikes at Vermont Bicycle Shop and head over to Pearl St. Pizza.
