Lookit, Cabot Ride the Ridges 2026 is right around the corner. There’s no time to loose!!
We gotta get training! Plus, there’s the Cross Vermont Trail Fundraiser Rides coming in fall of 2026 to get ready for as well!! We better get in shape.

Our friend and long time Millstone Trails Volunteer, Dave Anderson, is going to help us and he’ll be leading some amazing rides for us. Dave is a bit like Darren in his desire for the wackier roads and routes.

He’ll be leading us on a great ride out in Washington this next Sunday. So join us for some amazing peak foliage, and some super fun gravel and class 4 roads! Be sure to check out the Route and the Requirements section below before joining us.

Route

Here’s a map and the details about the route:

Requirements

Helmets are required.
If you have not yet done so this year, filling out our rider waiver form ahead of time is required. You can do it all online.

Other required equipment is:

  • A blinking rear facing red light.
  • A recently serviced bicycle that came from a bicycle shop or a reputable bicycle manufacturer (a bicycle from a big box store or a lot of online stores will fall apart at on some of the class 4 roads)
  • The bicycle should have at least 40mm wide tires and be in excellent working order, recently serviced means serviced within the past year and has been found to be reliable in use for the past year. Things that seem like small problems might turn into big problems in adverse environments. You don’t want to inconvenience other riders who came prepared. You will be riding on challenging terrain. Like Darren says, “Don’t stack your challenges.”
  • A helmet.
  • Bicycle gloves.
  • Hydration back pack, hip pack, or water bottles. Some way to safely and securely carry water with you.
  • A helmet.
  • Equipment to fix a bicycle flat. This usually includes tire levers, a tube, some kind of travel inflation device (we like mini-pumps/frame pumps), and any tools needed to remove your wheel.
  • Some cash money in case you want to get something at the Washington General Store after the ride.
  • A helmet.
  • A patient presence. While this is not a beginner ride, there will be riders on our group rides of varying ability, some are amazing climbers, some are amazing technical riders, some are amazing descenders. Most folks are not amazing at all three; a calm pace, regrouping often, re-riding fun or interesting sections of trail, and generally encouraging everyone is a part of this experience.
  • Did we mention that a helmet is required. Never ride a bicycle without a bicycle helmet.

We aim to shift away from the established social systems within the cycling world. There are no exclusions; participants are asked to create space for individuals—especially black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), women, queer folks, and those from marginalized or underrepresented backgrounds—to feel safe, supported, and confident, ensuring the best possible experience for all.
