Are these routes just lunatic raving madness? Is there a method? Well folks, let me introduce you to the DARREN system. It’s a great way to find routes and explore places you’ve never been. It’s a great way to plan for a ride somewhere new and help keep things fresh. That’s what we’re doing this week.
A NEW START
This week the gravel ride will be starting from the Millstone Trails Brook St. Parking.
We’re moving the start to get us closer to some of the funner Class 4 roads in our area.
So be aware we are NOT meeting at the bike shop.
While the Millstone Trails parking lot at Brook St. has always been pretty quiet and safe, it is always best to avoid leaving bags or valuable items visible when parking in public spaces.
OTHERWISE THE SAME
We’ll gather between 9:30 to 9:50 and wheels roll at 10am.
We’ll ride some pretty tame mountain bike single track before a short patch of pavement leads us on a long climb up the gravel of Tower Rd. Eventually Tower Rd devolves into a pretty gnarly class 4 road called Grandview. We’ll mix some more gravel, a stellar decent, and a little pavement before another big climb up to 2 other class 4 roads: Lighthouse Hill and Carpenter Bypass. Then the lovely Baptist Street will bring us back to Millstone Trails for a total of 29 miles and 3300 feet. We expect this ride will take around 4 hours.
These three class 4 roads are some of the best in Vermont, and you won’t want to miss it!
